Brooks' favorites
*Eating his blankets, burp cloths, bibs, taggy blanket..basically anything cloth. He opens his mouth so wide and just stuffs as much of it in there as he can.
*Rolling over! He rolls over constantly! He is a strange child as he started rolling from his back to his stomach (right only) the day before he turned four months, but had trouble going from his tummy to his back which developmentally should be much easier. Can you tell I work with kids with gross motor delay? He's very close to sitting up and can do so for up to 5 seconds with good posture, but then falls over.
*Ride little horsey- loves the falling part
*Looking at himself in the mirror, especially if he's standing up.
*Starting to like peek-a-boo and "where's Brooks?"
*staying with Aunt Haley b/c she literally won't sit him down.
He had a good four month check up, but was sick the week before (ear infection) and the week after (stomach bug). We actually drove to the ER with the stomach bug b/c we couldn't get his fever down from 103.9 even with tylenol, but it finally broke and he was better within the next few days. At his four month check up he weighed 13lb 9oz and was 24 inches tall. He's in the 10-25% in weight and 10% in height. :) Developmentally she said he was advanced and what mom doesn't want to hear that?
What we've been doing the past two months
*still going to daycare and loves sitting and playing with the other kids. I know it sounds crazy, but when he's in the floor with the other kids (they are at least two months older than him) he has this proud look on his face like, "look mom I"m big too."
*we traveled to Memphis to meet Reese...she is sooooo sweet!
*Easter was great, even though Brooks went through two outfits that day.
*we recently tore out the ginormous/ugly/unsightly (pick your favorite ugly adjective) bushes from our front yard and replaced it with new landscaping. Our neighbor and David helped us out a lot and it's almost finished...it looks so good! :)
*watching Aniston and Harrison play soccer...Brooks would kick his legs and flail his arms when the ball got close.
*sitting in his big boy seat at the restaurant! He looks so cute in it!
*My friends and I ran the Derby Mini Marathon and did so well...or maybe I should say we finished without having to walk! Definitely our slowest time to date, but considering I had a baby 4 months and 1 day before and Ashley hardly had anytime to train, I'd say we did fantastic!!! Go team Evie!
*we tried cereal, and while he was able to surround the spoon with his lips and get the cereal in, he immediately pushed it back out with his tongue and then looked at us like you crazy people give me my bottle! He's quite impatient when it's time to eat...I can relate! We will try again later. Michael, much to my dismay puts real food on his spoon and puts it on his lips. He will eat strawberry popsicles and vanilla ice cream (only two small daps). Our parenting skills are top of the line.
Looking forward to
*SUMMER...I can't wait to see how he does in the pool! He loves his bath so I think he will do great!
*Memorial Day-might just be my favorite holiday...pool opens, fun golf tournament, and mingling with people we don't get to see all winter
*Vacation! Haley, David and the kids, along with our lil family and mom are going to Destin in June! I can't wait, however I do have realistic ideas about how this beach thing is going to go with a 5 1/2 month old...fishing sand out of his mouth, eyes, swimming trunks (butt cracks-oh joy!); hot temperatures, sweaty baby. I'll probably be spending quite a bit of each day indoors to cool him off, but still looking forward to a fun time with family and away from work! Love my job, but so awaiting the day I can work part time!!!
*watching Brooks sit up by himself (my goal is for him to do it before vacation)
Love those eyes!
Bathtime at Peppy's
Brooks and Reese
Ramsey is such a good big sister. When we got there she kept calling me "that girl", but I quickly upgraded to "my friend". She calls Reese her baby and Brooks, Peppy's baby.
