Baby Brooks is here

First of all I must say that every time I log in to make a new post I try to change the picture of Michael and I on our wedding day to one of Brooks, however to date I cannot figure it out.
Our lives have certainly taken a turn and Brooks is even more wonderful than what we could have hoped for.  We got to the hospital on 12-27-11 at 8:00 am, began the induction process a little after 9:00, and had a healthy baby boy at 3:36pm.  They broke my water around 11:30 and I quickly began to dilate and contract.  I got an epidural around 1:00 and once it kicked in (the right side took a while) I was happy as could be.  My sister and mom had been there since early that morning and since I wasn't allowed to eat they decided to go to Panera to eat with Dad...we didn't think we'd be having a baby until that night.  The doctor checked me around 2:30 and told us we were ready to go.  I was shocked, but excited to meet our lil guy.  We called Haley and mom and they made it just in time for me to start pushing.  Haley's hair was windblown (it actually snowed that day), her face was red, and she was out of breath, but she made it!  I started pushing a little after 3:00 and after 30 minutes of watching sports center reruns we had ourselves a baby!  It was the easiest thing ever...LOVE that epidural!  The doctors, nurses, and techs were all so friendly and helpful...I could not have asked for a better experience!  Oh and we were lucky enough to have an old friend be Brooks' nursery doctor.  Thanks Bruce!  So many people came to visit us, okay they were visiting Brooks; even Michael's teacher came over to visit.

We've had an unusually warm winter and so we take Brooks everywhere!  We got home on Thursday, went to the doctor to get weighed Friday, went to the doctor again to get reweighed Saturday since he had lost weight (yes they scheduled us at 12:00 pm right when UK/Loserville game started), and had our first social outing that Sunday at...you guessed it, Don Senor and Wal-Mart.  Since then we've been to Michael's white coat ceremony, Illinois for Jax's first birthday party (he did great on our 5 1/2 hour drive), the mall where he took his first bottle (luckily he took right to it...that could have been disastrous), work, daycare, and numerous walks down Boone Avenue.  We've even taken him to the golf course twice to walk the course while Michael played...thanks Ash for the ergo carrier!  Brooks loves his carseat and doesn't mind being on the move all the time.  I love getting out with him...we get bored being at home all the time!
I hate to brag, oh wait no I don't, haha, but Brooks truly has been such an easy baby!  I think I felt exhausted a total of three days since he was born.  He sleeps so well and started sleeping in his own crib at 6 wks old.  He goes to bed around 10 or 10:30 and sleeps til 4 or 5 pretty consistently.  He's a great eater like his daddy and only cries or shows a temper if he's hungry; that he gets from me.  haha.  He looks nothing like me...he's all Michael, which is fine by me.  :)
At three weeks old he rolled over from his stomach to his back three times and has not done it since.  He is so alert now and smiles if you tickle his stomach.  He's a happy baby and we love him SO MUCH!  I'm pretty much going to use this blog as his baby book so it may not be that interesting to read.  I'll go ahead and apologize.  I know for us though we will love looking back at milestones and memories!

Brooks weighed 6lb 9.8 ounces and was 19 1/4 inches long; born at 3:36pm
Rolled over stomach to back: three weeks
Smiled: around 2 weeks, but not big on smiling until about 6 weeks
First golf experience: 10 days old...we walked 8 holes!
First social outing: 5 days old at Don Senor
 4 cm and feeling good
Ready to push...just a little excited!
 Dad was pumped up!

 Let's see he's about 3 seconds old here.  :)
Reaching for mama...okay maybe not, but that's what I'm going with
